Candidate for Dental Faculty Rep: Gurleen Kaur Muker
The School of Medical and Dental Sciences (Dental) Representative shall seek feedback from and represent students who are studying BDS Dentistry at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry. They are also responsible for co-chairing the SSLC (Student Staff Liaison Committee), supporting the Vice President Barts and The London and encouraging students in the faculty to participate and engage with the Students’ Union.

What's your favourite moment from being a student here?
I really enjoyed Freshers in first year because I got the opportunity to meet so many new people and it was the basis upon which many of my solid friendships at university began. A particularly memorable Freshers event was attending the first year Boat Ball because I had never been to a boat party before and the company was great.
What's something you've done that you're proud of?
I have always been actively involved in volunteering and try to do something to raise money for charity on a yearly basis. Since the start of this academic year I climbed Mount Snowdon to raise money for Nishaan. It was an amazing experience in which I met many new people and achieved something that I had never seen myself doing before!
What is a problem facing students and how do you propose to fix it?
Many students feel that they don't know what their options are once they graduate. It might be early days but there’s no harm in getting some ideas on what the future could hold for you. One way I hope to help us dentists gain more exposure to this is by holding presentations or speciality fayre’s tailored to the interests of each year group.
